Wendy Deschene and Jeff Schmuki have been based in the South for many years, as both artists and educators. Jeff lived in Mississippi as an Associate Professor for 8 years until he was displaced by Hurricane Katrina, and now holds a position as Visiting Artist at Auburn University, AL. Wendy started her career in Florida before moving on to Auburn University as Assistant Professor. Both artists have significant personal exhibition experience, and awards, Jeff having received a prestigious Pollock Krasner Grant, and a Joan Mitchell Award, and Wendy a Canadian Council Grant, before they created their team-work.
Their latest work together is on display at the UICA in Grand Rapids Michigan in April. In 2010 they were also awarded a team residency award at the American Academy in Rome as Visiting Artists. While working with the department of Engineering at Auburn University, they also created a community project at the Jules Collins Museum of Art. In 2009 they created a significant contribution to their body of work while fellows at I-Park in Connecticut.
Jeff and Wendy have shown widely both as individuals and as a team, in the southern region and beyond. For further information please click on our CV links or contact us directly at:
